Physical Growth of Girl in Middle and High School Period

Abstract
|
|
|
To assess the physical growth pattern of girls in middle and high school period, the health records of 664 third year students at a private high school in Seoul were analyzed. The annual growth of height, weight and chest circumference was compared with the relation to their menarche, number of siblings and birth order.
The conclusions derived from this analysis were summarized as follow:
1. The annual growth of those three measures was most rapid during the first year of middle school.
2. The menarche was preceded by physical growth spurt. Therefore the later the menarche, the latter the growth spurt was started.
There was no definite correlation between the physical growth of girls during middle and high school period and the number of their siblings or the birth order.
